Folks on the West Coast are known to have some outstanding facial hair, but the beards and moustaches on display at the Beard Team USA National Beard and Moustache Championships in Oregon are on a whole different level. The Goethe Institut in Boston is usually a place for philosophical discussions of Marx, Nietzche and the Institut’s namesake. But when Germany plays its World Cup matches, the Institut transforms into a lively place for fans to enjoy a beer, a Bavarian pretzel and cheer on Deutschland. Some of the most beautiful old cars around recently raced against each other at the Hunnewell Hill Climb in Wellesley, MA. Only A Game’s Bill Littlefield reported on the race, and while he was there he was able to grab a few pictures.
It will be a few more weeks before we know the winner of the World Cup in South Africa, but that didn’t stop a few members of certain foreign Consulates in Massachusetts from battling for national bragging rights on the soccer field. The Curtis Cup is one of the most prestigious events in women’s amateur golf. The tournament pits golfers from Great Britain and Ireland against players from the US. Only A Game’s flagship (pun intended) station, WBUR, hosted an event for listeners and supporters at Community Rowing, Inc. on the Charles River in Boston on Sunday, May 23. Dartmouth College hosted the fourth annual Formula Hybrid International Competition May 3 – 6 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, NH. More than two dozen colleges and universities from across the US and around the world tested hybrid race cars built and designed by students. Only A Game’s Doug Tribou was there.
